Black plums (or Jamun/Jambul/Indian blackberry ) are very easily available in summer and rainy season. These berries are power packed with many different nutrients that are good for our body. In fact, Black Plum has been extensively used in Ayurveda for treatment of Diabetes, digestive disorders, infections, skin problems and oral problems.

Black plum is loaded with Iron, Potassium,Vitamin C and D which are good for your body. It has lot of anti-oxidants that are good for heart and different types of acids that prevent various kinds of infection. Its low glycaemic index makes it great for Diabetics and there are lot of researches done to prove Black Plum’s positive affect in Diabetes.

It will be foolish to avoid such a great fruit and the best way to have it in large quantity, is in Smoothie at one go. Presenting Jamun or Black Plum Fruit Smoothie recipe, which is a must try.

Ingredients:

One cup of Black Plum (Jamun) Slices ( You will require about 300 grams of Black Plum or Jamun for this. Firstly clean them, then cut slices out of each berry till your are left with its seed which needs to be discarded. This way you will be able get a cup of Black Plum or Jamun Slices)

1/2 cup of low fat Milk

1 cup of low fat Yogurt (Dahi)

1 tablespoon of Natural Honey ( You can increase or decrease its amount if you want smoothie to be more/less sweet)

Method:

1. Place all the smoothie ingredients at one place.

2. Now put Black Plum (Jamun) slices and Honey in a blender Jar.

3. Blend them with Blender to form a smooth paste.

4.  Add Milk and Yogurt into it and blend it again for 20 more seconds so that all things get mixed together. Remember not to over blend it after adding Milk and Yogurt.

Pour prepared smoothie in a glass, and have this soothing and beautiful colored smoothie which is good for your stomach, heart and skin. Enjoy!
